FAQs and Fees

What do you do?

I provide support, advocacy and information to people in crisis, work with clients who have Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities to live as independently as possible.

How is this different from psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy usually includes activities like diagnosing, exploring your past and how it may affect you now and identifying and talking through your feelings.

The Big Dreams Small Steps program begins by identifying your strengths, assessing your immediate needs and taking action quickly to meet these needs.

What are your fees?

My fee is $150 per hour for any service that I provide.  The initial evaluation takes 90 minutes and costs $225. Services may be provided at my office, in your home, or in medical or other settings. Travel time will be added to your fee if we are not working at my office.

Payment is expected at the time of service by check or cash unless we have made other arrangements.

Do you take my health insurance?

No. Health insurance pays for treatment of medical or psychiatric conditions.  Big Dreams Small Steps does not diagnose or treat psychiatric conditions.  We work with you in a different way, whether it's managing a crisis, identifying and accessing potential resources or helping you to develop healthy habits.  Insurance will not pay for these services.

What are your hours?

I have office hours on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; meetings at your home or another site can be scheduled at a mutually convenient time.

What should I expect at our first meeting?

I'll explain what I do and why it works. I'll ask you to tell me about yourself and your current situation. I will ask you to read and sign our office policies and privacy practices. You are always free to ask questions!

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, you will not be billed. Frequent cancellations or no-shows interfere with your progress and you will be billed for these.
